Choosing the Different Cuts of Jackets

Fit of the Jacket     Over the years, tuxedo styles have changed. With those changes the way the jacket fits has also changed. Today more than ever, you must consider the way the fit will affect the way you feel in the tuxedo. Here are the three different types of fit available in todays tuxedos: Classic Fit -Classic is the term designated for the least trim of the three fits. While it will feel comfortable, it will tend to have a more boxy look. Modern Fit - Modern refers to an updated fit that is designated to look and feel more trim than the Classic fit garments. This fit shapes the outline of the body better without any pulling or stretching of the material. These styles will typically come with matching non-pleated pants that add to the slimmer look. Bow Ties are Back!

Bow Tie or Long Tie When it comes to renting a tuxedo, it usually is a formal event. When it comes to formal, the bow tie is king! Nothing says tuxedo like a bow tie. The past awards season saw the bow tie making a comeback. Celebrities will often times start a trend and you can see it happen during award shows like The Oscars, The Emmy's, The SAG Awards and many more. It has more than a decade since the long tie was introduced into formal attire. If 2013 awards season was an indication of what is to come, the bow tie is back! Bow ties aren't everyone's cup of tea. It is different. But that is the ultimate point in wearing a tuxedo. To wear something that is different than your everyday clothes. The bow tie and tuxedo have been linked together for decades. Men in tuxedos look very dapper in bow ties. It is one of the only times wearing a bow tie is in fashion. I for one and happy the bow tie is becoming trendy again. How about you? Larry Kessler Managing Partner C

Timeline for Choosing Attire   He asked. She said yes. You've set the date. Now the fun begins! So much to plan it can be overwhelming. There are literally thousands of details to decide on and choosing the men's attire is only one of them. This is a simple timeline to help keep things on track for making the experience of dressing the men an enjoyable time.   3-6 Months - Once you have chosen the colors of the brides dress and the bridesmaids dresses you can start working with a company to coordinate the men's outfits. It really is never too early to start the process. Plus the sooner you make the final decisions, the sooner you can inform the men standing up for the party how much they will need to budget for the outfit.   1-2 Months - Make sure you give the men in your party plenty of time to get measured. Everyone if busy and being considerate with the timeline will be greatly appreciated. Plus the sooner everyone is measured, the easier it is for the pro

Phoenix Tuxedo | Suit Rental

Choosing The Cut of The Jacket     Tuxedo rental or suit rental it doesn't matter. Choosing the cut of the jacket is something to consider when making your selection. Just like when the bride must consider the body shapes of her bridesmaids when picking out the dresses that she wants the girls to wear, a groom should consider the body shapes of the men in his party before choosing the cut of the jackets. Basically there are 3 different cuts in todays jacket styles:   The Traditional Cut - The traditional cut is most commonly found in the standard tuxedo or suit rental. It is tailored to provide a more fuller look. The shoulders of this jacket are more extended and the waist is more generous. Typically these styles are made of the tropical weight worsted wool that has been the staple of the rental industry. Father's are usually more comfortable in this styling and it is flattering for any body type. The Modern Cut  The modern styling is more fashion forwar

Phoenix Tuxedo | Suit Rental - A Bride's Vision

A Bride's Vision  If you are anything like most brides getting married, you spent some time as a little girl dreaming about your wedding day. I am sure that over the years the vision might have changed some, but there is a good chance you know exactly how you want your special day to look. From the venue, time of year, time of day, the style of your gown, even the colors of the napkins. It is amazing how all of this can come together and make one day in your life so memorable. During all that time of daydreaming about what it would be like, I am sure that your groom was a big part of that vision. Working with a formalwear company that will help you achieve that vision is very important. A formalwear specialist will know what questions to ask in order to help you realize that perfect wedding party look. And although I am sure you thought about the groom quite often, how the groomsmen looked might not have been in too many scenes. This is where the company providing your tux

Tuxedo Rental | Suit Rental National Network

Out of State Guests for Tuxedo Rental | Suit Rental A common misconception about tuxedo rental and suit rental is if you have out of state guests you have to use a national company. The truth is, every local store has access to a national network of retailers that will provide complimentary fittings for people traveling out of state for weddings. There are several websites that a person can simply input their zip code and local businesses that provide this service will be listed. Jim's Formalwear has a network of certified vendors numbering more than 1,000 strong that can provide this service. A local company that has stock is a better choice than a company who simply has stores and their stock in 1,000 miles away. Just another reason to choose a local tuxedo specialist over the national chains.

Tuxedo Rental VS Suit Rental Phoenix Scottsdale Metro Area

Tuxedo VS Suit Rental Tuxedo vs Suit   When choosing to wear a tuxedo or a suit for a wedding, there a several factors to consider. There is a perception that wearing a suit for a wedding makes the event less formal. This would be an accurate assessment.  Suits are acceptable attire for business environment, graduations, job interviews, funerals, and many other events. Choosing to wear a suit for your wedding can send the message that it is just another event. Choosing to wear a tuxedo sends the message that this event is special and deserves to be commemorated in an outfit that is appropriate for this occasion. The differences in the appearance of a tuxedo and suit are the presence of satin on the tuxedo. A tuxedo will be adorned with satin on the lapels, the pockets, a stripe on the leg, and the buttons. Anytime you add satin to any garment it makes it more unique. A suit will have lapels made of self material, matching non striped pants, and the buttons will be bone or

Father of Bride Tuxedo Rental | Suit Rental Phoenix Scottsdale Metro Area

Distinguishing The Father of The Bride With A Tuxedo Rental | Suit Rental   Dressing the escort or father of the bride is an important aspect to the wedding attire. After all, they will be the first person that your guests will see the bride with and should be dressed similarly to the wedding party. This topic my be a little biased for me. I am a father of 3 beautiful young ladies and I look forward to the day I am able to walk them down the aisle. I am always amazed when a bride has not given thought to what the person giving her away will wear. A lot of brides will have their fathers dressed in tuxedos or suits that are the same as the wedding party and use their accessories to really highlight them as a special person in the party. Neutral colors like black and grey are always a great choice because no matter who he might be taking pictures with his accessories will complement any colors in that photo. It also will work as a way to make him different than everyone else. S

Coordinating Groom's Attire

Tuxedo Rental |Suit Rental Phoenix/Scottsdale Metro Area Coordinating The Groom’s Tuxedo   It is amazing how many grooms don’t have any idea how they want to dress for their big day. Most of them do know what color tuxedo or suit they want to wear, but they are lost when it comes to how they want to distinguish themselves from other members of the wedding party. When you can get the attire of the bride and groom to complement each other, the rest of the wedding party will fall into place. Here are some helpful suggestions to do just that: Have the groom wear colors that will complement the color of the bride’s gown. If her dress is white consider having the groom wear white tie and vest as shown in the photos above. This will enhance the fashion of her gown while coordinating the two outfits. When the bride is wearing off-white or ivory, make sure the shirts for the whole party are ivory as well. This will assure that the pictures taken with the bride will complement the

Choosing the Accessories

Now is the time to choose the accessories for your tuxedos. His is where you get to customize items to coordinate with bridesmaid’s dress colors, ribbon color, or any other color theme you may be using. You have several options to choose from: Cummerbunds – Cummerbunds are the pleated belts worn around the waist. They are worn with matching bow ties and are considered the most conservative way to dress the men. Remember always keep the pleats up. Fashion Vests – Most wedding parties are choosing to rent fashion vests with their tuxedos. Vests offer a variety of colors and patterns to help compliment any theme you may have chosen. Fullback vests gives a more dressed look when the jacket is not being worn. Boys and larger sizes will usually come in the backless, bib type cut to accommodate most fitting challenges. Some wedding parties that are dealing with extreme climate issues will sometimes use the fullback vest instead of jackets to accommodate for excessive

Choosing the Pants and Shirt

Choosing The Pants – Traditional Double Pleated Pants – Traditional Burlington wool and polyester tuxedos in all colors usually come with a double pleated matching pant. Rental pants adjust up to 3 waist sizes and the pleats make for a more comfortable fit. These pants are perfect for the person with fuller seat and thighs. Traditional Flat Front Pants – Traditional Burlington wool and polyester tuxedos in most colors have an optional flat front pant available. This pant offers a more contemporary style and is not as full as the pleated pants. Modern Slim Fit Pants – These pants are made in the traditional Burlington wool and polyester fabrics. Offering the same flat front styling, these pants are cut slimmer through the thighs and lower leg. This styling is better suited for the customer that is used to wearing low rise skinny fashions in their everyday clothes. When choosing the tuxedos for your event, it is important that you think of everyone in the wedding party and what

Choosing the Jacket Style

Now that you have chosen the type of lapel you like, the next step is to choose the jacket style. There are several different styles to choose from. Single breasted  – The single breasted jacket can be worn buttoned or unbuttoned making it one of the more comfortable to wear. It is also one of the more popular styles of jackets to rent. It compliments men of all sizes and shapes making it the most popular choices of wedding parties today. The one button single breasted jacket is the most basic style of tuxedo jacket and is usually the most affordable. The more buttons you add to a single breasted jacket, the more fashionable the style. Two button single breasted jackets are today's style and fashion for weddings. They bring an up to date look while not putting the focus on the jacket alone. The more buttons you add to the coat, the more the coat becomes the focus of the outfit. Double Breasted  – The double breasted jacket is buttoned across the front both on the inside a

Choosing the Lapel

Now that you have selected the color of the tuxedo that you want to use, the next feature you must decide on for your tuxedo is the lapel style. The lapel is actually the collar of the jacket. There are three traditional lapel styles to choose from: Peak, Shawl, and Notch. Peak Lapels Tuxedo Jackets The peak lapel highlights a gentlemen’s chest and shoulders and tapers down to the waist. This is a little more bolder look and typically what people think of when they think of a tuxedo. A peak lapel has a unique look that is suitable for any guy who'd like to achieve a slightly more dashing look. The peak lapel was wildly popular during the first half of the twentieth century; however, it's come roaring back into style lately. It is broad and V-shaped; as its name suggests, it point up like a peak not too far below the collar line. You should be able to tell at a glance whether or not this type of lapel is right for you. Shawl Lapels or Shawl Collars The shawl lapel is litt

Choosing the Jacket Color

Choosing the color of the tuxedo jacket according to etiquette is determined by the time of day of the ceremony. To choose the color of the tuxedos by etiquette follow these simple rules: Ultra-formal Daytime Features a traditional daytime look with a modern twist. The groom dresses in an updated charcoal grey cutaway with pleated, striped, or matching trousers. Ushers dress in matching stroller coats, which really sets the groom apart. Fathers have a choice of either style. Formal Daytime   This is the most popular style for today's weddings, you set the style! The groom's choices include all types of formalwear in any color. Your Personal Tuxedo Guide

Congratulations! You are getting married! Once the initial joy dissipates, the reality of what it takes to plan a wedding will sink in. From the gowns, to the venue, choosing the right caterer, to finding a date that work with everyone in the family. Let’s face it, a wedding is centered around the bride. I tell all of my grooms “You are just an accessory!” Most women have been thinking about the day they will get married since they were as young as 6 years old playing with their Barbies. Men usually think about getting married around the time they start shopping for an engagement ring. So it is not surprising that most brides don’t leave arranging for the tuxedos up to their grooms. Coordinating the tuxedos to be a complimentary look with the gowns is essential to achieving the “look” that these women have been envisioning since they were playing dolls as children. Choosing tuxedos for your wedding can be a daunting task though. With all the different styles of tuxedos; differe
